3D Printing & Prototyping

Concept, prototype, test, produce.

Rapid prototyping, functional test parts, reverse engineering, and pre-production sample development, feeding directly into low-mid volume production in the same Winchester, VA shop.

Prototyping services

Six ways we de-risk a part before it is production.

The value of prototyping here is that the shop which prints the prototype is the shop that will cut, form, weld, and finish the production part.

Rapid Prototyping

3D printed parts so you can hold the geometry, check the fit, and change your mind cheaply.

Functional Test Parts

Parts built to be fitted, loaded, and evaluated in the actual application, not just reviewed on screen.

Reverse Engineering

We measure the existing part and produce the design, so a component with no drawing can still be reproduced or improved.

Pre-Production Sample Development

Samples developed and revised until the part is right, before committing to a production run.

Low-Mid Volume Production Parts

The proven design carried into small-batch production in the same shop that prototyped it.

Prototype & R&D

Development fabrication for parts that are still being figured out, with the full shop behind it.

Materials & machine specs

Two filament families, one build envelope.

Standard filaments cover most prototypes and fixtures. Engineering filaments step up for parts that need to hold up to heat, chemicals, or outdoor UV exposure.

Concept to production

One route, five stages.

Each stage feeds the next without changing vendors, re-drawing files, or re-explaining the part.

01

Concept & CAD

CAD drafting from your idea or drawing. No drawing? Reverse engineering from the existing part.

02

Prototype

Rapid prototyping puts the geometry in your hands before anything is committed to steel.

03

Test

Functional test parts get fitted and loaded in the real application.

04

Sample

Pre-production sample development and revision until the part is signed off.

05

Production

Low-mid volume production parts and quick turnaround manufacturing, cut, formed, welded, and finished here.

Reverse engineering

An old part and no drawing is a normal starting point.

Reverse engineering is a standing capability, not a special request. We measure what you have, produce the CAD, prototype the replacement, and then fabricate or manufacture it, using the same CNC plasma, press brakes, machining, and welding that produce every other part in the shop.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions.

Rapid prototypes, functional test parts, and pre-production samples, used to prove geometry and fit before a part is committed to production.
Standard filaments — PLA, PETG, and TPU — for most prototypes and fixtures. Engineering filaments — ABS, ASA, Nylon, and Polycarbonate — for parts that need to hold up to heat, chemicals, or outdoor UV exposure.
340mm × 320mm × 340mm on our in-house FDM printer. Larger parts can be split and assembled, or moved into fabrication.
A STEP (.step or .stp) or 3MF (.3mf) file. No file yet? Reverse engineering and CAD drafting are both in-house.
Both. Prototyping feeds directly into low-mid volume production parts and quick turnaround manufacturing in the same shop.
Yes. Reverse engineering and CAD drafting are both in-house.
That is what pre-production sample development is for: samples are developed and revised before a production run is committed.
